[01] The name Deu-meu

What the name means

Deu-meu is the Korean name for the water vessels placed outside wooden palace buildings to guard them from fire.

Like its name, I live as someone who writes,

to quiet the fires within and to tend to life.

Deu-meu dreams of letters beyond the page.

As hanji paper holds specks of dust as pattern,

the work carries a warmth that embraces flaws, through Hangeul and hanji.

[02] What I do

Writing, making, and reading together

Deu-meu is a writer working with essays, artist’s books, and hanji.
The work records small moments of everyday life and the voice within,
then unfolds that writing again as paper, books, and exhibitions.

Through writing workshops, reading groups, book talks, and lectures,
Deu-meu keeps making room for people to read and write together.

[06] Vision

Letters beyond the page

As hanji holds specks of dust as pattern,
I want to make writing and books that embrace their flaws.

I hope to stay close to places where people read and write,
so that more people can record their own voices.
